Vegan means no animal products at all
Our Vegan box goes a clear step beyond vegetarian. No meat, no fish, no egg — and, crucially, no dairy: no paneer, cream, butter, ghee or yoghurt, and no honey. That last part is where a lot of “veggie” Indian food quietly falls down, because ghee and paneer are almost everywhere. We build the vegan box so you never have to interrogate the ingredients line by line.
It is a distinct box, not a filtered version of the veg menu. Dishes that traditionally lean on dairy — Dal Makhani, a paneer curry — simply stay out of it, and what is left stands on its own.
Cooked in oil, built on lentils and beans
Instead of ghee we cook with oil, and instead of leaning on paneer and cream we build the box around lentils and beans — rajma, chole, yellow dal, lobia — and vegetable dishes. These are not compromises invented for a vegan menu; they are everyday Indian home cooking that happens to be plant-based to begin with. Whole regions of Indian food never needed dairy, and that is the part of the kitchen this box lives in.
Vegan, plant-based and pure veg — the honest map
People use these words differently, so here is how we use them. Vegan means zero animal products — the box on this page. “Plant-based” we treat as the same thing, so we do not run a separate plant-based box; it would be this one. Pure Vegetarian is different again: it keeps dairy for the paneer and cream classics. If you eat dairy, that is the box you want; if you do not, you are already in the right place.
Reliable vegan food without the label-reading
Eating vegan at university is mostly a logistics problem — checking every menu, every ingredient list, every “may contain” before you commit. A weekly vegan box removes that work for the meals it covers: you know the whole box is plant-based, it is sitting in your fridge, and it heats up in minutes between seminars. No negotiation with a kitchen that does not quite get it.
Where animal products hide in Indian food
The tricky part of eating vegan is not the obvious meat — it is the quiet dairy. Ghee is the default cooking fat in a lot of Indian kitchens, a spoon of cream or a knob of butter finishes many gravies, and paneer turns up in dishes people assume are just vegetables. Even a naan is often brushed with butter or made with milk. Any one of those quietly turns a vegetarian dish non-vegan.
We build the vegan box specifically to sidestep all of that: oil instead of ghee, no cream or butter finishes, no paneer, and no honey in a marinade or chutney. You are not handed the veg menu with a warning to check each dish — you get a box designed to be vegan from the first step, which is the whole reason to order it rather than cook around the gaps yourself.

Vegan FAQs
Is your vegan food completely free of animal products?▼
Yes. The vegan box has no meat, fish, egg or dairy, and no honey. We cook it in oil rather than ghee and build it around lentils, beans and vegetables.
Do you use ghee or paneer in the vegan box?▼
No. The vegan box leaves out all dairy, including ghee, butter, cream, paneer and yoghurt. Dishes that rely on those stay in our Pure Veg box instead.
Is “plant-based” the same as your vegan box?▼
Yes — we treat plant-based and vegan as the same thing, so there is no separate plant-based box. The vegan box is what you are looking for.
What is the difference between vegan and dairy-free?▼
Dairy-free only removes dairy and can still include meat and fish. Vegan removes every animal product. If you avoid dairy but still eat meat, choose Dairy Free; if you avoid all animal products, choose Vegan.
Can vegans and meat-eaters order to the same flat?▼
Yes. You can order a Vegan box and a Signature meat box to the same address — they are prepared and packed separately.
How do I store and reheat the meals?▼
They arrive frozen. Keep them frozen in your freezer, then reheat from frozen until piping hot.
