What β€œpure vegetarian” means here

Pure vegetarian, to us, means no meat, no fish and no egg β€” but it does include dairy. That distinction matters, because most Indian vegetarian cooking is built on dairy: the paneer in your Palak Paneer, the butter and cream in a Dal Makhani, the yoghurt folded into a marinade. Our Pure Veg box keeps all of that, so it tastes like the shakahari food you grew up eating rather than a stripped-back substitute.

If you also avoid dairy and ghee, that is a genuinely different diet β€” our Vegan box is built for exactly that, and we point you there rather than pretend one box quietly does both.

Cooked separately from meat

Our vegetarian dishes are prepared separately from the meat side of the kitchen, with their own utensils and prep space. For a student keeping a strictly vegetarian kitchen at home, that separation is the whole point β€” you should not have to wonder whether your dal shared a pan with chicken. A mixed flat can order a Pure Veg box and a Signature meat box to the same door, cooked apart and packed separately.

One honest limitation: we do not yet run a dedicated Jain menu without onion and garlic. If that matters to you, register your interest and we will let you know when it is ready β€” we would rather tell you now than surprise you at the door.

Pure veg vs vegan vs plant-based

The quick version: Pure Veg keeps dairy β€” paneer, cream, ghee, yoghurt; Vegan drops every animal product including dairy and honey; and what some people call β€œplant-based” is, for us, the same idea as vegan. If dairy is part of your diet, this is your box, and you get the paneer classics that make Indian vegetarian food what it is. If dairy is not, take the Vegan box instead.

Veg food that isn't an afterthought

Vegetarian students often get the short straw on a takeaway menu β€” one paneer dish and a side of chips. A weekly Pure Veg box flips that: paneer classics, a rotating set of dals, chickpea and kidney-bean curries and seasonal sabzi, so you are eating properly through lectures, deadlines and the long gaps between home visits. It is the food a lot of our customers describe simply as tasting like home.

Pure Vegetarian FAQs

Is your pure veg food 100% vegetarian?β–Ό

Yes. Our Pure Veg box has no meat, no fish and no egg. It does include dairy such as paneer, butter and yoghurt, and it is prepared separately from the meat side of the kitchen.

Does the pure veg box contain egg?β–Ό

No. Pure vegetarian for us means no egg as well as no meat or fish. Dairy β€” paneer, cream, butter, yoghurt β€” is included.

Is the vegetarian food cooked separately from meat?β–Ό

Yes. Vegetarian dishes have their own prep space and utensils, kept apart from meat, so a strictly shakahari household can order with confidence.

Do you offer Jain food without onion and garlic?β–Ό

Not yet. We do not currently run a dedicated Jain menu without onion and garlic. Register your interest and we will let you know when it is available rather than imply we already cater for it.

What is the difference between your pure veg and vegan boxes?β–Ό

The Pure Veg box keeps dairy, so you get paneer and cream-based classics. The Vegan box drops all animal products including dairy, ghee and honey. Choose Pure Veg if you eat dairy, Vegan if you do not.

Can I get pure veg meals delivered to my halls?β–Ό

Yes β€” we deliver to 190+ universities and 200+ cities. Enter your postcode to confirm your accommodation is on our route.
