Saakshi's Kitchen - Home-Cooked Indian Tiffin Delivery for Students

Indian Food for Every Dietary Preference

From pure vegetarian to vegan, gluten-free to halal β€” home-cooked Indian meal boxes tailored to how you actually eat, delivered frozen to your university.

Not every student eats the same way, and β€œIndian food” covers a lot of ground β€” from a pure vegetarian thali to a halal biryani to an entirely plant-based dal. Saakshi's Kitchen runs a small set of honest weekly boxes so you can order home-cooked Indian meals that match your diet, delivered frozen to your accommodation across 200+ cities and 190+ universities.

Below, every box is described in plain terms β€” what goes in it, what is left out, and which one to choose if two of them sound similar. We would rather point you to the right box than sell you the wrong one, so where a diet has no distinct box we say so instead of faking one.

The dietary range, explained

β˜ͺ️Halal

All the meat we cook is halal, and we cook without any alcohol-based ingredients. Pick this if you eat meat and want that assurance β€” it is the same menu as our mixed box, framed for Muslim students and families.

πŸ–Non-Veg Mixed Meals

The widest-variety box: halal meat dishes and vegetable dishes together across the week, cooked apart from each other. For students who are not restricting anything and just want home-cooked range.

See the Signature veg + non-veg box β†’

πŸ₯¬Pure Vegetarian

No meat, fish or egg β€” but dairy is included, so you keep the paneer and cream classics most Indian vegetarians grew up on. Cooked separately from meat for a strictly shakahari kitchen.

See the Pure Veg box β†’

🌱Vegan

No animal products at all: no dairy, ghee, egg or honey. Built around lentils, beans and vegetables cooked in oil rather than ghee. (This is also what we mean by β€œplant-based”.)

See the Vegan box β†’

🌾Gluten Free

Built from the naturally gluten-free side of Indian cooking β€” rice, dal, tandoori and cooked-down curries β€” with chapatti, naan and wheat-thickened gravies left out. Read our honest cross-contamination note first if you are coeliac.

See the gluten-free box β†’

πŸ₯›Dairy Free

No milk, cream, butter, ghee, yoghurt or paneer β€” but meat and fish are still on the table, unlike vegan. Coconut and tomato gravies and tempered dals do the work instead of cream.

See the dairy-free box β†’

Two things we do not pretend to run: a separate plant-based box (it is the same as our vegan box) and a dedicated pescatarian box (our one fish dish, coconut fish curry, lives inside the mixed box rather than a fish-only offering). Search for either and we will send you to the closest real option rather than a box that does not exist.

How every box arrives

Whichever box you choose, it arrives frozen. Keep the meals frozen in your freezer β€” reheat from frozen until piping hot days for a busy fortnight, then reheat in a few minutes to serve. Nothing needs cooking from scratch after a late lecture.

Flexible weekly meal boxes, you can subscribe weekly, and you can skip or cancel any week you are away. Order 2 days in advance for Tuesday to Friday delivery, with a 10pm cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dietary options does Saakshi's Kitchen offer for students?β–Ό

We run a small set of honest weekly boxes: halal, pure vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and a mixed veg + non-veg box. Every meat we cook is halal, and vegetarian dishes are prepared separately from meat.

Is your vegan Indian food completely plant-based?β–Ό

Yes. The vegan box has no meat, fish, egg or dairy, and no honey. We cook it in oil rather than ghee and build it around lentils, beans and vegetables. We treat β€œplant-based” as the same thing, so there is no separate plant-based box.

Do you offer gluten-free Indian meals for students?β–Ό

Yes β€” a lot of Indian food is naturally gluten-free, so we build a box from rice, dals, tandoori and curries and leave out chapatti, naan and wheat-thickened gravies. Our meals are cooked in a shared kitchen that also handles wheat, so if you have coeliac disease please message us before ordering.

Can I order halal Indian food for university delivery?β–Ό

Yes. All meats cooked in our kitchen are halal, and we deliver to 190+ universities and 200+ cities across the UK. Enter your postcode to confirm your accommodation is on our route.

Is the vegetarian food cooked separately from meat?β–Ό

Yes. Our pure vegetarian dishes are prepared separately from meat, with their own prep space and utensils, so a mixed household can order both a meat box and a veg box to the same address.

How are the meals delivered and stored?β–Ό

Every box arrives frozen. Keep meals frozen in your freezer, then reheat from frozen until piping hot.
